If an enrolled employee becomes disabled, the program will replace up to 70% of the disabled employee's gross annual salary, tax free after an elimination period.

The federal government on average, pays 70% of health plan premiums while employees pay the remaining premium through pre-tax payroll deductions (unless waived). FEHB has a few plan types with several health carriers in each plan: Fee-for-Service (FFS - equivalent to a PPO), Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), Consumer-Driven Plans and High-Deductible Plans.
